Community Education
Volunteer Classroom Educator
As key members of our school-based youth suicide prevention program, Community Education volunteers facilitate Stress Management and Suicide Awareness & Response workshops for high school students. In addition to new information and skills, we look to our volunteer educators to inspire hope, possibilities and resiliency in the youth they meet. In the 2008-09 school year, our volunteers presented more than 350 workshops to more than 9000 students across the Lower Mainland and Sea to Sky corridor. The Community Education program also creates opportunities for volunteers to move into short-term contract positions as trainers and group facilitators.
Benefits:
- Enrich your public speaking and group facilitation skills
- Work interactively with youth in an educational capacity
- Gain a deeper understanding of youth suicide prevention
- Learn mindfulness perspectives and practices
- Receive in-service workshops from various community agencies
- Reference letters
