LivingWorks Start is a self-paced, online 60 to 90-minute training that teaches a powerful four-step model to keep someone safe from suicide.  Provides hands-on opportunities to practice the skills with impactful simulations.  Each LivingWorks Start user receives the same core information and skills training, with additional custom content depending on their background, location, and needs.

The Crisis Centre also offers a post-session workshop to debrief LivingWorks Start for teams within or across agencies. 

LivingWorks Start is evidence-based.  Third-party evaluations of the training confirm this:

  • Improves trainee skills and knowledge
  • Improves trainee readiness and confidence
  • Safe and effective for trainees as young as 13 years old
  • Meets SAMHSA’s Tier III evidence-based training criteria
  • Based on best practices in online curriculum development

Who is it for?

This training teaches valuable skills and is appropriate and safe for everyone 15 years and older (13+ with parent/carer supervision) and requires no formal training or prior experience in suicide prevention.
