Wills and Bequests

Bequests may come in the form of a percentage of your estate, specific cash amount, property, securities or other assets. A charitable bequest has no effect on you financially in your lifetime and is one of the simplest and most flexible ways to create a lasting legacy.

A bequest is a lasting gift from the heart with practical benefits to your surviving heirs. Your estate receives a tax receipt for the full amount of the donation, which may offset capital gains or other taxes due. You may designate the gift to specific programs, or allow the Crisis Centre to put it to work where most needed at the time.

Leaving a bequest to The Crisis Centre will help keep the Distress Lines open, enhance our online services for youth, and continue to provide our Community Education Program of Stress Management and Suicide Awareness interactive workshops to high school students.

Please consider becoming a Crisis Centre Legacy Partner as an essential part of your estate planning strategy.

It’s easier than you may think
All it takes is a simple clause in your will to leave a gift of hope to the Crisis Centre – and continue transforming lives long after you’ve gone. Your lawyer can include a simple clause naming the Crisis Centre as a beneficiary or you may download our sample Will Clauses to be used for discussion purposes with your lawyer in preparation of your Will. Naming Crisis Centre in your will is an ideal way to build a legacy. You’ll make a significant and meaningful difference in your community without feeling any financial impact in your lifetime.

Endowments

Please help us invest in what matters to our community for future generations by making a gift to the Crisis Centre Endowment Fund or Establishing Your Own Name Fund.

An endowment gift the Crisis Centre is an investment in the Future of your Community.
The principal from the Crisis Centre Endowment Fund generates an annual income that helps offset fundraising and administrative costs. Your gift to the Endowment Fund will ensure that dollars raised continue to go where they are needed most — to people in our community.

Contributing to the Crisis Centre Endowment Fund
Your gift to the Crisis Centre Endowment Fund will continue to generate revenue forever. Any contribution you make to our existing endowment fund will be invested and administered by the Vancouver Foundation to protect the principal while producing an annual income. This income partially offsets the Crisis Centre’s administration and fundraising costs – helping to ensure dollars raised will go directly to vital services in the community. Please consider making a donation to the Crisis Centre Endowment Fund as part of your annual campaign gift, or direct a Will bequest to the Fund.

Creating an Endowment Fund to Support the Crisis Centre
You can create an endowment fund by donating substantial gifts of cash or assets. Consider naming it for yourself or a loved one. Endowment funds may be pooled, and individual endowments require a minimum contribution of $10,000. When you invest or create a fund to support the Crisis Centre, your donation is invested permanently and the income is used to support Crisis Centre programs. You may direct your endowment fund toward specific programs (such as YouthInBC.com or Community Education Workshops) that are important to you. Ideally, you may allow us to use the funds where most needed. Either way, you’ll provide hope for youth, adults and seniors in need for generations to come.
